Exhortation - Luke 9:23

Luke records that Jesus told his followers to take up their cross daily and deny themselves in order to follow after Jesus and be his disciple. This still applies to us today, even though crucifixion is no longer a practice of execution, it vividly portrays what Jesus is calling his followers to.
